Zirkulationen I  (Handel, Verkehr)

Eines der Leitprinzipien der Moderne ist die Zirkulation: freie Beweglichkeit von Gütern und Arbeitskräften in der kapitalistischen Produktionssphäre. Niemals endender Verkehr von materiellen und immateriellen Gütern, ober- und unterirdisch, zu Wasser, auf dem Land und in der Luft. Der Container ist sowohl Produkt als auch Produzent der Zirkulation. Als universaler temporärer Behälter für jeden erdenklichen Transfer und jede erdenkliche Aktivität und zugleich als Maßeinheit für Produktivität an sich (die nicht mehr in Gewicht oder in Stückzahlen angegeben wird, sondern in Standardcontainerladungen: TEU) bildet er eine Vergegenständlichung des Prinzips der Zirkulation.

Circulations I (trade, traffic)

One of the leading principles of modernity is that of circulation: free movement of goods and work force in the capitalistic production sphere. Never ending traffic of material and immaterial goods, above and beneath ground, on water, overland, and in the air. Being both product and producer of circulation, the container becomes a reification of the principle of circulation: as universal temporary container for any thinkable transfer and any thinkable activity, and, at the same time, as a measurement for productivity itself (which is not given in weight or quantities anymore, but in standard container loadings: TEU).
